Marco
Saturday, November 8th, 2008I just watched the episode of Degrassi when Marco is gay-bashed. I’ve seen it so many times before, but this is the first time I actually cried. I just cried. My eyes are watery and I am sniffling. It’s sad because it happens. It’s so true to life, and it’s so close to home. These things are happening everyday, not only by regular people on the streets, but from law enforcement. Special treatment is given to those who share the same belief that one thing is right. A “straight” man can walk up to a non-threatening gay man and punch him in the face (on camera) then hop into his car and drive away. Another gay man can walk up to the victim and try to help and be put away for “disturbing the peace” like it’s so much worst to call attention to a fucked up situation than it is to be apart of it, to cause it.
Hate is so wrong, but at the same time, it’s so hard to not hate people who do these things. My ancestors were scared to be black, scared to be women, and now people have to be scared to be gay. (Real pity for lesbian, black women… that’s three strikes you’re out, apparently) Straight people have to be scared to be associated with gay people, because being around it makes you apart of it. They treat gays/lesbians and the people who support them like killers and the people who help hide the bodies. It’s not the same.
I support human life and love. Men can love women, women can love women, men can love men, and both can love both. I say NO to H8.
